The Role 

We require someone with six to eight years of dedicated PR agency or equivalent experience working with a variety of health, pharma and food clients on a range of communications programs to support life-saving medications/treatments, medical devices, vaccines and food brands. Programs may include product and nutrition communications, strategic collaborations with industry, media, influencer, and advocacy partners; public and healthcare professional education/disease awareness campaigns, issues management and stakeholder relations, as example.

What You Will Be Doing

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Drive agenda for client meetings/status calls, and provide client counsel, including issues management
  • Build strategic communications plans including digital marketing, content strategy/marketing and social media. Involvement expected for drafting PR proposals, program outlines and/or budget estimates
  • Implement day-to-day tactical activations including engaging influencers/content creators for paid content, leadership of community management programs including reporting of adverse events to appropriate health and safety authorities, media relations campaigns, planning physical or virtual special events and product launches
  • Develop and execute digital/social media programs and content strategies within integrated paid-earned-shared-owned environments for a variety of clients
  • Research and develop communications/media materials, key messages, Q&As, campaign/ project briefing documents, brainstorm briefs, collateral materials, social media content, activity/status reports, etc. in a timely manner as required by senior team and/or clients. 
  • Research, vetting, procurement and management of third-party organizations, partners and/or campaign spokespeople (including healthcare professionals, Registered Dietitians; influencers and celebrity talent) on behalf of clients
  • Influencer relations – and media relations, as required; including pitching, developing and maintaining strong relationships, generating unique content/story ideas/pitches, managing and reporting on social and earned editorial/coverage and commenting for clients
  • Lead virtual/in-person event planning efforts within team including supplier relations, logistics, on-site event management and media relations, etc.
  • Develop/vet media / influencer lists, editorial calendars, etc.
  • Track media coverage, compile coverage reports
  • Familiarity with social monitoring tools, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Tracking of client budgets; vendor invoices and supporting senior manager with management of team utilization/time management
  • Work with our Quebec-based team to integrate national programs
  • Reviewing prospect RFPs/briefings, providing input on proposals and budgets, contributing to the research/immersion process, participating in brainstorming sessions and/or client pitches.

The Experience That Will Contribute To Your Success


  • Degree or diploma in communications, public relations, digital marketing and/or journalism
  • 6-8 years of consulting experience at a Canadian public relations agency or equivalent,
    skilled at client and team management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian healthcare landscape and regulatory environment, pharmaceutical sector, healthcare stakeholder/advocacy space, as well as food and nutrition/dietetic industry, and core food policy issues
  • Proven ability to manage simultaneous projects and meet strict deadlines using strong organizational skills within a fast-paced agency environment
  • Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills
  • Event management, media tours/interviews and related logistics experience
  • Solid and confident presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding and experience in digital marketing, content strategy/marketing and social media as part of integrated communications within PESO environments a must,
    including digital/social analytics
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary agency teams (creative, media buy, digital and specialty) to help enable fully integrated campaigns and maximize agency relationships a plus
