uberUber’s [TCO] Chief Executive Dara Khosrowshahi announced the ride-hailing company will be laying off  a large number of their staff in an email to staff Monday. This comes less than a week after the company eliminated about 3,700 jobs and planned to save more than $1 billion in fixed costs. In today’s announcement Uber will close 45 offices and lay off some 3,000 additional people.

Uber is also looking to acquire Grubhub which would give the company a strong monopoly in the food-delivery sector over competitors like DoorDash and Postmates.
