Just when retailer Toys “R” Us Canada’s future started to look bright after being saved by Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. who swept in at the 11th hour purchased the Canadian operation for $300 million in April 2018 the company has some more bad news. Toys “R” Us Canada’s President Melanie Teed-Murch announced she is leaving the organization to pursue other endeavours.
Melanie has been with the organization for close to 20 years having started as a store manager in a Kitchener location working her way throughout various roles in head office.
The retailer has 82 stores across Canada and e-commerce sites Toysrus.ca and Babiesrus.ca. Earlier this week the company also announced plans to open two new stores in in the first half of 2020. One will be a 30-square-metre store under the Toybox banner to be located in Guelph, Ontario. It is also planning to renovate existing stores located across Canada.
